MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS
By the Flushing High School Class of 1961

The excitement, energy and enthusiasm of the Flushing High School Class of 61 is at a peak, because we just celebrated our 50 year anniversary of our graduation from the school. Many of you came to the Fort Lauderdale reunion in March 2011 organized by the Queen of FHS Reunions—Gaye Kantor Besnoy. Several others celebrated at the reunion in New York the following June. To commemorate this momentous event, Steve Weiner, one of our fellow '61 alumni, came up with an exciting idea of what we can do as a class to make a difference for future generations. Read below and join your classmates in participating in this project.

The request is straight forward, one that requires no investments, no solicitations and no expensive show
But it will give you the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of young people whom we may never know.
It has been 50 years since we graduated and our lives have been filled with various experiences
But how different our lives may have been with coaching, caution and awarenesses.
A piece of advice like, “Never make any life changing decisions simply on a whim.
Take at least 24 hours to ponder the negatives and positives, and then you're sure to win.”

Steve Weiner with your help wants to compile a book of helpful hints
That Mr. Carl Hudson, FHS's Principal, can distribute to the students.
They will read, discuss and ponder the merits of our wisdom and advice
We hope that they'll heed our life experience words given without a price.
So, he's asking all you '61 alumni to contribute your view
E-mail spweiner1@aol.com today with a thought or two.

Steve thanks you in advance for the effort you will make
Toward the success of this Class of '61 project. There is so much at stake.
Your words will be powerful, meaningful and concise.
There's no need to rhyme when writing your advice.
